4 Simple Tips To Help Your Curls Survive The Humidity

How does the humiditiy affect my curls and do I prevent it?

We’ve all experienced the wrath of humidity before. More especially when we’re on holiday. Every. Year. Without. Fail. So I did some research into different articles and posts online about humidity and curls and so get ready to find out the best ways for your curls to survive the humidity.

Humidity is basically like getting a spray bottle filled with water, turning the nozzle to the mist setting and spraying it into your hair continously – it’s bound to get frizzy right ??  Humidity is when there is lots of moisture in the air making it possible for water molecules to enter each hairstrand and bind to its proteins.

This then causes the hair to revert back from its styled form to its natural state which tends to be quite frizzy.  In order to survive the humidity; Use A Moisturising Leave-In-Conditioner, use Oil, Wear Your Hair Up, and Use Gel.

  • Use a moisturising leave in conditioner

Using a moisturising leave in conditioner reduces the frizz and dryness after washing your hair. When you wash your hair, you are stripping away its natural oils making it prone to frizz and dryness. Investing in a great leave-in will allow you to tame frizz and reduce dryness. A great leave-in conditioner is the Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioner. Shea Butter works great as a moisturiser which is needed in order to survive the humidity. Click here to try it out!

  • Using oil

Using oil is a great way to help your curls survive the humidity as it creates a barrier between your hair and the water particles in the air. A great oil to use in your hair is the Shea Moisture Jamacian Black Castor Oil Serum’. This oil works so amazingly against the humidity so I make sure to take it with me every time I go on holiday without fail !!! 🙂  Click here to try it out!

  • Wear your hair up

Wearing your hair up prevents additional water moisture from entering your hair strands. The more hair exposed to the humid air, the more frizz your hair is going to get. Tie your hair up using a Satin Srunchie to reduce the frizz.

  • Use a gel

A gel is undeniably one of the most effective ways to prevent your hair from loosing its style which you shaped when applying products. A gel will lock in the moisture from your leave-in and other styling products. Using a strong gel to hold the curls in shape because as previously mentioned, the curls revert back to their natural state in humid conditions. To prevent frizz and dryness, use the Argan Oil ECO Gel for a strong hold. Click here to try it out !!
