Eyes are the first thing people look at; espeically in the midst of a conversation, so it’s no wonder that thousands of us want to have perfect skin around our eyes. Most of us have dark circles however only a few of us understand what it actually is. Luckily, we’ve come up with a few homemade remedies to reduce dark circles. Dark circles are not only caused by lack of sleep but other factors. Some factors are environmental, some are caused by genetics. Below is a list of factors that could influence dark circles.
What Causes Dark Circles?
- Natural Contour of Face
- Hyper Pigmentation
- Lack Of Sleep
- Rubbing eyes
- Salty food (diet)
- Iron Deficiency
How to get rid of dark circles:
– Remove makeup before bed
Remove your makeup in the night especially . The Bioderma Makeup Remover is an amazing makeup remover perfect for eye makeup. Apply a little onto a cotton pad and wipe off your makeup.
– Get enough sleep
You may be familar with this one; sleep affects the brightness of your under eyes. Try to get at least 7 hours of sleep to ensure you all well rested and don’t look tired. Sleeping on time and waking up on time can brighten your under eyes and makes you appear more fresh and awake.
– Cold tea bags
Tea bags don’t only make up for a good hot beverage! They are great at reducing dark circles under the eyes. The coldness of the tea bags increases the blood flow to your under-eyes, brightening the eyes.
– Mint leaves
Mint leaves are great for reducing dark circles under the eye as they also increase blood flow to the under eye area. Crush up some mint leaves and apply it under your eyes for 5 minutes. You should feel a tingling sensation. This is the mint leaves working.
– Potato slices
Applying cold potato slices under my eyes is one of my favourite homemade remedies for dark circles. Simply slice up a potato into thin pieces and let it sit under your eye for 5-10 minutes. Potato has brightening properties which will help reduce the darkness.
– Aloe vera
This remedy is so theraputic and screams spa because of how cooling it is. The idea is to apply something cold under your eyes to increase the blood flow and what better than aloe vera gel to use. Either extract aloe vera gel from the plant or simply buy some from your local store and leave in the fridge overnight. Aloe vera has amazing cooling properties so it can be very cold when you apply it under your eyes. Massage it into your skin with your two fingers or you can simply use a jade roller (which I love).
