The best sunscreen for Indian Skin.

The best sunscreen for Indian Skin.

As summer is approaching, one of my biggest problems is not knowing which sunscreen works best on my indian skin.

So, I’ve taken the time out to research the best sunscreens that would protect me from the sun’s harmful rays and also drys invisibly (no white cast).

After trying out loads of different sunscreens and researching online; I can say that the Solbar Shield Sunscreen worked the best on my skin. Let’s take a look why.

How does it protect me from harmful sunrays?

There was a myth going around about how people of colour didn’t need sunscreen but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Sunscreen is known to protect us from harmful UV rays from the sun which causes skin cancer (melanoma) and it also helps prevent wrinkles and ageing.

Although your chances of getting skin cancer are significantly lower than white people, cancers such as sqaumous cell carcinoma is said to be prone to Indians.

Although indians have natural protection against sunburn, the risk of getting cancer and wrinkles still persist that’s why it’s very important that you purchase a quality sunscreen which protects you from the suns damaging rays.

The Solbar Shield Sunscreen is a great choice for protecting yourself as it is a ‘broad spectrum’ sunscreen and provides SPF of over 30!

What does broad spectrum sunscreens mean ?

Broad spectrum sunscreens protect you from harmful UVA rays and UVB rays from the sun. UVA rays cause wrinkling and age spots whereas UVA & UVB rays cause skin cancer.

A sunscreen which can protect you against both harmful rays is a winner in my eyes.

What is SPF & why is an SPF over 30 good for Indian Skin?

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. A sunscreen with an SPF of 30 means that it filters out 97% of UVB rays from the sun when you apply it. An SPF of 30 + protects you more than a sunscreen with an SPF of 15.

However, apart from protection, does the Solbar Shield Sunscreen dry invisibly?

Does it dry invisibly?

Most sunscreens tend to leave a white cast on my skin after application.

This Solbar Shield Sunscreen dried invisibly on my skin as I didn’t notice a white cast. I was so relieved when it dried invisibly as not many other sunscreens could do that.

If you’re not a big fan of sunscreen leaving a white cast (unsurprisingly), then this sunscreen would be great for you.

You can find it here on Amazon.

Is it waterproof?

Another reason why I’m loving the Solbar Shield Sunscreen is because it is waterproof.

The Solbar Shield Sunscreen is great for those days at the beach or at the waterpark where you don’t mind getting wet because you know your sunscreen won’t wash off and you don’t risk getting burn’t.

Why is it the best sunscreens for Indian skin?

Sunscreen was almost never compatible with my tanned skin. It always gave me a pale, unwell appearance and I never knew what SPF was and how much I needed.

This Solbar Sunscreen has a high SPF meaning it protected my skin from harmful sun-rays and prevented me from getting wrinkles. It is waterproof so that I can enjoy my summer (click here for summer outfit inspo!).

As an Indian I didn’t think that I needed sunscreen and I never thought it to be of any importance.

After researching and testing, I was able to find the right sunscreen for me – one which was not only good for me but I can wear with confidence in public!
